MOLD ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION
PENTA’S TEAM OF INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROFESSIONALS (IEPS) PROVIDES MOLD ASSESSMENT AND REMEDIATION MANAGEMENT FOR COMMERCIAL, INSTITUTIONAL, AND INDUSTRIAL PROPERTIES, AS WELL AS MULTI-FAMILY AND BANK-OWNED RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES.
Our mold assessment and remediation services include the following:
PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION AND ASSESSMENT
When contacted by our clients in response to a mold complaint, PENTA responds quickly to gather information pertaining to the area of the facility affected, whether mold is suspected in response to an indoor air quality/odor complaint, flooding event, or visible evidence of suspect mold growth has been observed. Following our initial contact, PENTA can perform a site assessment to document the presence and extent of suspect mold growth.
If the initial cause of the mold growth is unknown, PENTA can perform building envelope evaluations, site drainage evaluations, and moisture source investigation. Once the source has been identified, PENTA will assist property owners in the development and implementation of appropriate, cost-effective response actions.
DEFINING THE REMEDIATION PROTOCOL
After the extent of mold growth and the mold contaminated areas have been documented, PENTA can provide a remediation protocol to define the scope of remediation work and minimum engineering controls to be used by the selected mold remediation contractor. Our remediation protocols generally require compliance with the following:
- EPA’s Guidelines for Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings
- IICRC’s S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Water Restoration
- IICRC’s S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Mold Remediation
- Other applicable OSHA and EPA regulations
CONTRACTOR SELECTION AND MONITORING
PENTA can assist our clients in selecting a qualified, experienced mold remediation contractor to execute the remediation protocol, or perform the mold remediation in-house under a single contract. If our client uses a separate contractor, PENTA can further assist our clients with performance of worksite observations during the remediation process to monitor contractor compliance to the remediation protocol and document the presence of additional mold growth on surfaces exposed during the removal process.
POST REMEDIATION VERIFICATION
Upon completion of the remediation efforts, PENTA can collect air and bulk samples for analysis to document concentrations of mold spores remaining in the air or on surfaces following the work efforts, prior to the subject area being re-occupied.
START TO FINISH EXECUTION OF THE REMEDIATION PROCESS
Whether contracted through insurance companies, general contractors, or our commercial clients, PENTA can perform all associated work activities from initial assessment, through remediation, to final clearance sampling in a timely manner, bringing the property to a marketable condition, under a single contract.
